“The Bear Prince” communicates a few values and morals from the Mexican cultures for example what they did and what an average lifestyle was. Most people in who lived with the Mexican culture were poor peasants who lived off of the land and made money by selling things such as food or wood. The poor lumberjack sold wood to provide for his family. Also people from Mexican culture had an arranged marriage which is displayed when the youngest girl was exchanged by the lumberjack to the bear for the forgiveness for cutting down trees in his forest. Another cultural trait is shown when the girl finally arrives at the castle she is looking for, she walks in and there is a huge feast going in celebration of the witch marrying the prince. Throughout the story the girl stops at three different main houses. She stops at the moons house and the moon is introduced to the culture as a very tired person. She stops at the sun’s house and the sun in portrayed as very hot and the sun was also said to burn people when he got angry. She also stopped at the wind’s house and the wind was introduced as a friendly person and was willing to help out the girl in her quest to find the castle. This story was a good story filled with many cultural traits and morals.
